November 16: Jaguar Reserve

One of my more memorable experiences. Shal, our tour guide drove us early from placencia to Cockscomb basin national park. It’s about an hour and a half away, at the base of the maya mountains. Our itinerary included hiking through the trails, tubing for about 40min down a river, and hiking to and getting a ‘jungle massage’ at a waterfall.

Wildlife was abundant and Shal gave us lots of history on the jaguars, Mayan cultures, and wildlife stuff in general. We spotted howler monkeys, lots of different birds, a baby deer(not sure if that’s what it’s called) and some jaguar foot prints (it’s tough to spot them during the day) within an hour of walking so I was pretty satisfied overall 🙂
